Professional Certificates

Professional Certificate Programmes

Short, practical certificate programmes of three to nine months, delivered under our MINEFOP agrément, for people already working who need a specific competency quickly.

Not every useful qualification takes three years. The certificate catalogue exists for the professional who is already working and needs one specific competency: DHIS2 and health information systems, cold chain and vaccine logistics, field epidemiology, hospital WASH, gender-based violence response, quality management and accreditation, and others.

These are vocational programmes in the proper sense. They are assessed on whether you can do the thing, not on whether you can describe it.

Accreditation

These programmes are delivered under the agrément of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP), which regulates short-cycle professional training in Cameroon. This is a separate regulatory track from the university cycles, with its own framework and its own certification.

MINEFOP recognises three levels of title. The DQP, Diplôme de Qualification Professionnelle, rests on a nationally approved standard and is awarded after a national examination organised by the ministry. The CQP, Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle, answers a more immediate need from a trade or employer and is assessed within the approved training centre. The AQP, Attestation de Qualification Professionnelle, certifies a narrower competency.

The title each programme leads to is stated on that programme's page, because it depends on the standard the programme is built against.

How long it takes

Most run three months. A few run four, five or nine depending on the depth of the standard. Several are delivered as an intensive block or through evening and weekend classes so that you can keep working while you study.

How the programme runs

  1. 1

    Enrolment

Enrol directly for the certificate you need. Entry requirements are set per programme and reflect the competency being taught rather than a general academic threshold.

  2. 2

    Taught modules

Concentrated teaching against the professional standard, delivered by practitioners working in the field rather than only by academics.

  3. 3

    Practical work

Applied work on real tools and real cases, whether that is a DHIS2 instance, a cold chain, an investigation protocol or an accreditation file.

  4. 4

    Assessment and certification

Assessment follows the title. A DQP is examined nationally by MINEFOP; a CQP or AQP is assessed within the approved centre against the same standard.

Where it leads

A recognised professional title, and in most cases an immediate change in what you are allowed to be responsible for at work. Certificates stack: several can be taken in sequence to build towards a broader profile without leaving employment.
